My new EP Sunburn is available now!
Although Lexi Peto is a Northern Virginia girl, nothing has stopped her from making her way to Nashville, TN to pursue her dream. Being an artist/writer, her music combines aspects of country, pop, and christian together. Some of her strong influences include that of Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, Collective Soul, and Hillsong United.
Growing up in Germantown, Maryland she took after her father by becoming his guitar student at age seven. By the time she was fourteen she picked up the piano, mandolin, ukulele, songwriting, and voice lessons. In 2014, a major tragedy struck her life when her mother passed. After moving to Warrenton, Virginia her father and stepfather continued to support her strongly. They encouraged her to pursue music by taking her to Nashville for the first time together. There her debut album, Where I Belong was recorded and is currently available on iTunes and other music services.
In Warrenton, Lexi channeled the emotions from the loss of her mother into her music. She began performing professionally playing both solo gigs, as well as performing with a band in the DC Metro area. Lexi’s live show has been seen at over 30 Washington DC area venues, festivals, fundraisers and showcases, including the Birchmere. She opened for both John Cowan of the Doobie Brothers and Jamie Lynn Spears. Around this time, she also began her membership with the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), as well as both songwriter and publisher memberships with BMI.
The Fauquier Times & Prince William Times said, “Peto is not only an exceptional singer, but her lyrics and songwriting capabilities surpass that of most adults.” Her music has also earned her numerous awards and acknowledgments. She won the first Young Artist Grand Prize in the 2015 Bernard/Ebb awards for “Where and I Belong,” and an honorable mention in the 31st MidAtlantic Song Contest (MASC) as well as in the annual NSAI song competiton for her song “Rest of Them.”
In June of 2015, Lexi began a new chapter in her career as an artist/writer when she and her stepdad moved to Nashville to nurture her dreams. In 2016, she received another honorable mention in the 33rd MidAtlantic Song Contest (MASC) for her song “Just Press Play.” This past summer, Blue Bandana Records released Lexi’s EP titled Sunburn to all major digital media services worldwide. After graduating from Pope John Paul II High school, Lexi began the start of her freshman year at Belmont University. Pursuing a degree in Songwriting and a minor in Music Business, is a dream come true for her as she continues to pursue her career in music.
